Pinewood
Expanding Care for Children with Special Needs
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in our nation.
Woods Services has had much success in the treatment of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders (ASD/PDD). For this reason, child welfare agencies and school districts are increasingly turning to the Woodlands Center for Challenging Behaviors to help these young people gain the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential.
Because Woods continues to receive referrals for children with ASD/PDD, plans are underway to renovate the Pinewood residence, an existing building on its campus. This modification will allow the organization to accommodate 24 additional clients, therefore better positioning Woods to expand its services for children with ASD/PDD.
The renovation will include –
- Twelve bedrooms and four bathrooms will provide privacy for 24 children
- Living areas and activity rooms where the children can relax, play games and watch television.
- A dining room where the children can enjoy meals.
- Office space for residential staff and nurses who care for the children.
- A sensory stimulation room that will provide relaxation and leisure activities for the children.
Your generous support is needed to give children with ASD/PDD the best possible care as well as opportunities to achieve their best.
